Well, we finally got our first look at Tifa, and she looks amazing! Truth be told, we we’re a bit nervous about the whole thing, mostly because of the level of secrecy involved in her character in particular. Let’s face it, Tifa Lockhart is an iconic beauty in the JRPG world. Many a boy has fallen victim to her sweet charm, which resides behind one of the hottest pieces of pixelated, uh … we digress.
They apparently downplayed her figure a bit. Perhaps they decided that a more conservative approach to her anatomy would be the “safest” approach, and given the current state of our societal sensitivity, we’d have to agree. Anatomical comparatives aside, however, she still casts a striking figure and allure of utter sweetness that absolutely oozes off the monitor. The classic bar scene has captured the same somberness that captivated my throughout my childhood. The ominous sense of looming personal responsibility, the ghosts of times long forgotten, and the uncertainty of a tragic future that seems desperately unavoidable.
The mechanics of her combat looks really satisfying. Watching Tifa unload a flurry of melee attacks in rapid succession will get your blood moving! The movement looks fluid and and seems every bit a capable warrior as she ever was, perhaps even better. The new combat mechanics really gives the turn-based system a whole new, 3 dimensional, and immersive experience. We can’t really speak on too much more until we can actually take it out for a test spin.
